How it works, start to finish

The process is built so that your staff's only job is to scan. Everything after that, we do.

  1. You tell us what you have

Use the form or call. A rough count, the main subjects, where the books are, and whether you lean toward a buyout or the revenue share. A spreadsheet or photos help us answer faster but aren't required. We reply within one business day with what we'd take and on what terms.

  2. The books are selected, on your shelves

Two ways. Remote: we set your staff or volunteers up with a barcode-scanning app on a phone or a handheld scanner. Each scan returns an instant keep-or-skip answer based on live market data, so only books we'll sell get boxed. On site: for large collections in Michigan and nearby states we bring our own scanners and crew and do the selection ourselves.

  3. Boxes leave on our labels

You tell us how many boxes are ready. We email prepaid UPS labels and schedule a UPS pickup at your loading dock, front desk or porch. For big projects we come with our truck. You never pay shipping and never drive a box anywhere.

  4. We process and sell each book individually

Every book is checked, described and listed at its own market price on Amazon and other marketplaces, then stored in our warehouse. When it sells, we pack it, ship it and handle the customer. Nothing is bulk-liquidated.

  5. You get paid

Buyout: one payment at the agreed per-book rate as soon as the books arrive. Revenue share: a monthly statement listing each title sold, its sale price, Amazon fees and shipping, the net, and your 50%, with payment. Statements continue for as long as your books keep selling.

What we take

Non-fiction of every subject, and poetry. Academic and scholarly works, university press titles, textbooks, art and architecture, history, science, medicine, law, engineering, business, religion, philosophy, music, foreign-language books, out-of-print and specialty titles. Condition can be used; a working library is fine.

What we don't take

Fiction and novels, children's and young-adult books, magazines, encyclopedias, Reader's Digest and book-club editions, and water-damaged or mouldy books.

Where

We're in Metro Detroit and work across Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, New York, Kentucky and West Virginia. We pay the UPS shipping, so that's the region where the numbers work for everyone. Larger academic collections further away are considered case by case.
