What we specialize in
Academic non-fiction is our whole business. University press titles, monographs, scholarly series, medical and legal references, engineering and science, art and architecture, foreign-language scholarship, out-of-print and specialty titles. These are the books that bulk buyers price by the pound and that sell online, one at a time, to researchers and libraries worldwide.
How a project runs
- Scope. You tell us the size, subjects and timeline. For departmental collections we send the scanning app; for large library projects in our region we come on site.
- Selection. Titles are scanned and selected against live market data. Nothing we won't sell leaves your building.
- Removal. Boxes ship on prepaid UPS labels with a scheduled pickup, or go on our truck. No loading-dock labor from your staff beyond pointing us to the shelves.
- Payment and reporting. Buyout: an itemized count and one payment. Revenue share: a monthly statement with every title, and a payment, for as long as the books keep selling.
Faculty retirements and office clear-outs are a steady source of valuable books that often go to recycling. We're happy to be the standing referral for your department or surplus office: a professor emails us, we handle the rest. See how it works for private collections.
Compliance and paperwork
We'll follow your institution's disposition rules: services agreement, purchase order, sealed quote, or a simple letter of understanding for a pilot. Statements and counts can be produced in the format your finance office uses.
Questions from university staff
Can you work through our surplus property or procurement office?
Yes. We routinely work with surplus and asset-disposition offices and can follow your institution's process, including sealed quotes, a short services agreement, or a purchase order for buyouts.
We have 20,000 volumes from a closing branch library. Can you handle that?
Yes. For projects of that size in our region we come on site with our own scanners and crew, select on your shelves, and remove the selected volumes by truck. The rest stay for your usual disposition.
Do you take textbooks, journals and foreign-language material?
Current and recent textbooks, yes. Bound journals usually not, with exceptions for complete runs in medicine and law. Foreign-language scholarly books are a specialty; we sell to buyers worldwide.
How do you report for our records?
Revenue-share partners receive a monthly statement listing every title sold, its sale price, fees and net. Buyout partners receive an itemized count and a single payment. Either can be produced in the format your finance office needs.
What about sustainability reporting?
We can report volumes kept in circulation and out of landfill for your sustainability office. Books we don't select stay with you for your existing recycling or donation channels.
